Job: Research Associate in Ethics, Lancaster University

The Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion (PPR) seeks to appoint a Research Associate in Ethics to work full-time with Professor Stephen Wilkinson (Lancaster University) and Professor Rosamund Scott (King’s College London) who jointly hold a Wellcome Senior Investigator Award in Ethics and Society. This grant supports a five-year programme of work (2013 – 2017) on ethical and legal issues relating to the donation and transfer of human reproductive materials.

You must have (or be on the verge of completing) a PhD in Ethics, Philosophy, or Medical Law, as well as a thorough understanding and a strong research interest in healthcare ethics, law, practice, or policy. You must also have excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentational skills and be committed to and enthusiastic about the subject area of the research programme.

Your duties will include: producing research and publications on issues and topics identified by the programme leaders; organising conferences, meetings, seminars, and workshops; developing professional social networks; disseminating and publicising the outputs of the research programme; and contributing to the administration of the programme.

The post is offered for three years, starting on 1st September 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary: £25,504 to £29,541
