Director for Health Law Institute
Hamline University School of Law seeks a Director for its nationally acclaimed Health Law Institute (HLI) ranked in the top twenty among U.S. health law programs by U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director’s responsibilities will include strategic planning, curriculum development, maintenance and growth of relationships with relevant local, national, and international scholarly and professional associations, scholarship production, teaching, and contributing (together with all faculty) to the law school’s efforts to attract law students and place them in rewarding employment upon graduation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates are expected to hold a J.D., have demonstrated experience in health law, health care regulation, or medical technology, and will lead integration of the law school’s health law initiatives with activities of two other law school centers of excellence (see below), as well as with the university’s graduate schools, including the recently created School of Business. We are looking for a candidate who is the best fit for the Director Position and thus will consider candidates interested in either a tenure track or a non tenure track faculty appointment, subject to long term contract renewal (long term contract faculty have full faculty voting rights, except in the area of promotion and tenure). Opportunity for research and scholarship development is available. HLI’s core activities include overseeing and participating in a comprehensive Health Law curriculum that offers J.D. students the opportunity to obtain a certificate in Health Law; January and Summer Term domestic institutes; a certificate program in Health Care Compliance for J.D. students and other professionals; and a biennial symposium. The work of HLI is complemented by the law school’s internationally acclaimed Dispute Resolution Institute (DRI) (ranked by U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT among the top five programs nationally for ten consecutive years) and the newly formed Business Law Institute.
