News: DPP issues guidance on assisted suicide prosecutions

As announced in August, the Director of Public Prosecutions has today issued guidance for prosecutors on the factors to be considered when deciding whether a prosecution in an assisted suicide case is in the public interest. The guidance is contained within a consultation document available in Word or pdf formats. The closing date for responses to the consultation is 16 December 2009. The CPS website states that “[o]nce the DPP has considered all the responses, he will decide whether, and if so, how to amend the policy.”
